I knew it was coming. I got my Bulk Barn chocolate eggs over a month ago in anticipation of present day circumstances. We even gave the kids an early Easter gift by renting "Trolls World Tour" on YouTube and snuggling up with popcorn Saturday night.
I knew Easter was coming.
Enter Sunday morning; The 7, 6 and 4 year old bounce into our room, hands over their eyes, and claim they walked through the house blind so as not to find any eggs. Now one might assume panic would overtake a Mother and Father who COMPLETELY neglected (there's that word again) to hide said eggs, but no, I kept it together. I quickly sputtered something along the lines of "Silly me, I forgot to get your hunting baskets out! Stay here while I go find them." and mad-dashed throughout the house dropping chocolate like it was hot. And they were none the wiser.
If that's not a parenting win, I don't know what is.
If you celebrated, I hope your Easter was slightly more organized, and equally as fun as ours! As disappointing as it was not to pass ham and wine across the table with parents and grandparents and great grandparents and siblings and cousins and aunts and uncles, I find comfort in the fact it will be that much sweeter next time we do.
